How it all started

It so happened that in the summer of 2007 the AltArt Foundation was commissioned by Culturescapes organizers to do a selection of Romanian video art. But AltArt's focus was already set at that time to contemporary cultural production, to remix culture, to the frail line between private and public at the electronic frontier. And of these there is plenty in the vast unexplored territories of the romanian DC++ space. So the proposal became culture instead of art done by cultural contributors instead of artists. This was accepted, and the exhibition showing a collection of 40 contemporary cultural artefacts largely by anonymous authors is opening on 14th november in Unternehmen Mitte Basel.
